Who were the Moors?

1. Who were the Moors?
The Moors were Africans in Africa. They have ruled Portugal and Span for 780 years before slavery time. They had taught Europeans to navigate, trade, and build boats. Later in the years the Spanish and the Portuguese turned on them and used their skills to slave Africa.

2. Who were the Venetians?
Venetians comes from the Italians that moved down from Venice. The Venetian were very wealthy people during the late 1500's and were very famous for there trade and canals.

3. How were the Moors/ Venetians regarded in Shakespeare's day?

Most Christians in Europe regarded Venetians as dishonest people who would happily trade with Muslims and heretics if it were profitable. Moors were Muslims and were therefore generally not liked by most Christians.


4. What was the military duties of ranked officers?
There were different kinds of military duties of ranked officers. There was the General, Lieutenant and, Marshall. The general was the senior army officer. He commands the army opertations in the field but can't pick troops to fight. A Lieutentant is a position that is assigned by the general. Each Lieutentant is in charge ofleast 50 officers. They can give orders to other soliders that have a lower rank than them. Lastly, there is the Marshall. The name is given to a certain civil and military offices of varying rank.

5. What was the military hierachy?
Military hierachy was basically soliders getting paid according to how many victories they win through out there wars. When they became citizen of the country it was the men's duty to serve in the military and protect their country.

6. What was the role of womens?
A womens job druing shakespears time was to be an housewive. The womens did not get any enducation as well.

7. What was expected of a daughter?
For the daughters they had to follow as thier father says. They had to listen to thier father about where were to get married at or who they were to get married to.

8. What was exoected of a bride?
For a bride, the bride had to be loyal and respectful to her husband. She was not sppouse to get married to the one she loved. During Shakespere time they were to love the one who they are married to. When they are married she becomes in charge of the house and majority of things in the house.

9. What rules existed during the time of the play?
During the play rules that existed were: The daughter couldn't marry her choice or the once she loved.

10.What were the rules of courship?
When two people were married they had to think about their future, They would succeed from their love. If the parents die the eldest son would receive most of their wealth and the youngest would recieve the least amount of thier wealth.

  1. First of all get your history correct the Moors were not Africans they were Arabians who invaded Iberian Peninsula during the mass jihads. They then got driven out by the reconcista 400 hundred years before the slave trade. Also they inhabited North Africa also due to the mass conquest. Also North Africa was not the home of sthe slave trade it was south Africa and west Africa dont spew this bs.

    1. Moors is a term used to refer to people who where generally muslim. It was alo used to refer to people of color and non-christians... just google it smarty.
